Govt Implements Measures to Curb Commodity Price Manipulation, Dismantle Syndicates: Minister Salahuddin

Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed announced on Thursday that the government is actively taking measures to prevent artificial price hikes in the commodity sector and to dismantle syndicates that have been influential for the past decade and a half. He emphasized the adoption of new and innovative methods to secure business and trade, moving away from traditional approaches.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister shared these insights during a meeting with members of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at his ministry office. Salahuddin highlighted that maintaining law and order and ensuring stability remain the government’s chief priorities to foster a conducive environment for business growth. The administration is committed to fulfilling both immediate and long-term aspirations of the populace.



The minister further outlined initiatives aimed at restoring order in the transport sector, which include measures to eradicate extortion nationwide. This campaign will initially target divisional and major cities, with success hinging on collaboration with the administration, police, and other stakeholders.



DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed appealed for the minister’s support in enhancing law and order, curbing extortion, and reinstating discipline in the transport sector. The meeting was also attended by DCCI Senior Vice President Rajib H Chowdhury, Vice President Md Salem Solaiman, and Secretary Dr AKM Asaduzzaman Patwary.
