Dhaka: BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today emphasized the importance of sincerity and public welfare in government operations. He highlighted the current government's commitment to these values, stating, "The government of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is also sincerely working for the welfare of the people." Rizvi made these remarks while speaking to journalists after paying floral tributes and offering Fatiha at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi acknowledged the challenges faced by the government, including the energy crisis, and commended the administration for its honesty and dedication. He remarked, "Despite going through many crises, the government has demonstrated honesty and dedication in its activities. The party chairman and current Prime Minister made promises to the people before the election, and the government is tirelessly striving to implement those promises. That effort is visible."
Addressing the energy crisis, Rizvi clarified that it was not a result of government negligence but rather due to external factors such as war and technical malfunctions at the Maheshkhali terminal. "The recent crisis is not the responsibility of the government or any individual. It is a type of natural crisis," he explained, adding that repairs and LNG cargo arrivals have restored gas pressure and reduced load shedding.
Rizvi also discussed the government's vigilance against conspiracies and its continuous efforts to promote public welfare, social security, and infrastructure development. He stressed, "There was no lack of sincerity on the part of the government, and the people of the country have seen that even during the energy crisis."
He emphasized the importance of accountability in governance, noting that the government has set examples of accountability in Parliament, among leaders and activists, and through the media. Rizvi described the current administration as focused on eliminating corruption and fostering genuine development, contrasting it with past eras marked by what he termed "horrific mega corruption."
In his role as the party's Acting Secretary General, Rizvi outlined his priorities, which include strengthening the organization and improving coordination among leaders and activists. He stated, "My primary responsibility is to strengthen the organization, improve coordination among leaders and activists, and address the flaws and deviations that exist or may arise in the organization from the grassroots to the national level."
Rizvi also addressed upcoming organizational changes within BNP, indicating that new committees will be formed for expired terms and that conferences will be held. He assured that members stepping down would still have opportunities for advancement within the party structure.
