Dhaka: Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today announced the government’s contemplation of implementing online classes in educational institutions within metropolitan areas, responding to the evolving global situation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Milon addressed journalists after a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat’s Cabinet Building, revealing that the government is evaluating how to conduct classes and maintain the education system amid current international challenges. He emphasized that while the proposal focuses on metropolitan regions, where students heavily rely on bus transportation, no final decision has been reached yet.

The minister mentioned that the Ministry of Education plans to submit a series of proposals to the Cabinet Division, taking into account the prevailing global conflict situation. A conclusive decision will be made following approval from relevant authorities. During the meeting, the Prime Minister provided crucial directives to uphold the momentum of the education system, which will be adhered to in implementation.

Dr. Milon also highlighted that the government must consider the loss of significant instructional hours due to international crises, Ramadan holidays, and domestic movements. He stressed the importance of careful deliberation before potentially transitioning entirely to online education to avoid social disconnection.
