Khagrachari: The Khagrachari district administration has initiated a five-member committee to probe the recent event at Guimara upazila of the district. Khagrachari Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandker shared this information while speaking to journalists following a relief distribution program at the upazila.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Deputy Commissioner mentioned that they visited the site immediately after the incident and returned with relief materials to assist the victims. The injured have been transferred to Chattogram for better medical treatment, and efforts are ongoing to rehabilitate the families of the deceased.

The district administration aims to ensure a fair investigation by forming the committee. Meetings with protesters have been conducted, and efforts are being made to reach a peaceful resolution through dialogue. Among the eight demands put forward by the protesters, seven are currently being addressed.

The Deputy Commissioner also commented on the possibility of lifting section 144, stating that while the demand is being considered, the ongoing blockade remains a significant hurdle. Once the blockade is lifted, the restriction will also be reconsidered.
