Khulna: Khulna University (KU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim today highlighted the government's focus on enhancing education quality and research standards. "Work is underway to advance research activities in the country through the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project," he stated, hoping that the initiative would bolster Khulna University's international reputation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Rezaul Karim was the chief guest at a training programme on effective communication with breast cancer patients for their inclusion in research projects at KU. The event, titled "Effective Interaction with Breast Cancer Patients for Inclusion in the Research Project," was part of a HEAT sub-project and held in the Pharmacy Discipline's conference room.
Professor Karim noted an increase in research allocations at Khulna University alongside the HEAT project. "The increased allocation is encouraging both teachers and students to engage in research. The main objective is to generate new ideas through research," he added.
The programme was presided over by Professor Dr Kazi Mohammad Didarul Islam, Director of the Research and Innovation Centre. Professor Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman, Sub-Project Manager of the sub-project, delivered the welcome address. The event also saw participation from Professor Dr Md Jamil Ahmed Shilpi, Acting Head of the Pharmacy Discipline, along with teachers, the Assistant Sub-Project Manager, and students.
Resource persons Dr Md Mukitul Huda, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Radiotherapy at Khulna Medical College and Hospital, Dr Md Salauddin Millat, Assistant Professor of the Pharmacy Department at Noakhali Science and Technology University, and SPM Professor Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman conducted various sessions.
The training aimed at effective and sensitive communication with breast cancer patients to enhance their participation in research. Participants were educated on appropriate communication strategies, such as exchanging information with patients while being sensitive to their mental and emotional states, to encourage their involvement in research initiatives.
