Dhaka: The government has mandated that all private and public schools and colleges nationwide observe August 5 as 'July Mass Uprising Day' and July 16 as 'Shaheed Day'. This initiative aims to honor the contributions of the heroes from the July uprising and to foster a spirit of resistance against fascism.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division has issued an order regarding this new observance. The directive outlines that August 5 has been categorized as a 'Ka' day, while July 16 is classified as a 'Kha' day by the Cabinet Division. These classifications are part of the government's broader effort to instill historical awareness and civic values among students.
