Chattogram: Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Dr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today emphasized the interim government's commitment to restoring voting rights for the populace, which were reportedly denied during the last three elections under the previous administration. Addressing the Convocation-2025 of Chattogram Independent University (CIU) at the Patenga Boat Club, he reiterated the government's dedication to significant reforms aimed at eliminating societal discrimination.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khan highlighted the interim government's efforts inspired by the July uprising, with a focus on reinstating democratic rights and ensuring free and fair elections. He also holds advisory roles in the Railway, Road Transport, and Bridges Division Ministry, further underlining the importance of an equitable society free from discrimination.
During his address to the graduating students, Dr. Khan advised them on the importance of learning beyond the classroom and internalizing values such as honesty, which he believes their institution has imparted alongside academic education.
At the event, CIU's Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mir Mohammad Nurul Absar presided, with Kihak Sung, founder Chairman and CEO of Youngone Corporation, delivering a speech as the convocation speaker. Other prominent figures, including University Grants Commission Member Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nurun Akhtar, and CIU's Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT) Chairman Mohammad Zakaria Khan, also addressed the gathering.
The convocation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 2,189 graduating students from various faculties, with fourteen students receiving the 'Top Achievers' award for their exceptional accomplishments.
