Mymensingh:Social Welfare Minister Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain announced that the current government is committed to advancing the quality of education in the country. He emphasized that the focus is not solely on the education system, teachers, or students but on improving overall educational standards.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Zahid made these remarks as the chief guest at a triennial conference and reception ceremony of the district teachers' association held at the Town Hall Auditorium in Mymensingh city.

The minister highlighted a qualitative change in the education sector, noting the responsible conduct at this year's reception for distinguished teachers. He criticized the previous government for using curriculum and textbooks to obscure the history of Bangladesh and stressed the importance of understanding significant historical events from 1947 to 2024. He stated that the Liberation War of 1971 remains the nation's greatest pride.

Dr. Zahid, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, questioned the effectiveness of the current education system, emphasizing the need to address why expected educational standards and goals remain unmet. He expressed the government's agreement with teachers' demands, including nationalization of jobs and inclusion under the Monthly Pay Order scheme, while stressing the importance of honoring teachers' contributions to society.

The event, chaired by Professor Sheikh Amzad Ali, featured speeches from various education and political leaders, including Selim Bhuiyan, MP, who advocated for the nationalization of non-government teachers' jobs to improve education quality. He expressed optimism that the Prime Minister would address these demands effectively.
