Dhaka: Adviser for Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and Railways Ministry Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today announced that comprehensive efforts will be undertaken to ensure a safe, hassle-free, and enjoyable Eid journey for all travelers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fouzul made these remarks during a meeting focused on "Ensuring safety and convenience of common people on roads, highways, bridges, and railways in view of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha celebration" held at the Bidyut Bhaban in the capital. He emphasized that collecting additional fares from passengers during the Eid journey is prohibited, and any such violations will result in immediate action.
Fouzul highlighted that government representatives will actively monitor roads to prevent extortion, and arrangements for sacrificial cattle markets will be made away from main roads and highways to avoid traffic congestion. To ensure financial security for traders, bank booths will be set up at cattle markets.
Additional surveillance will be implemented in accident-prone areas to prevent unwanted incidents, along with necessary measures for immediate primary health care. The movement of trucks and covered-vans will be restricted from June 4 to June 6, and from June 12 to June 14, with exceptions for emergency services.
Fouzul called for cooperation from all parties involved to prevent excessive fare collection, ticket manipulation, and extortion, aiming to make this Eid journey safe and smooth. The meeting saw participation from LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Home Affairs Ministry Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Sheikh Moinuddin, leaders of the transport owners-workers association, and civil society representatives.
