Dhaka: The government has given the green light for the procurement of 2.20 lakh metric tons (MT) of wheat from the United States through a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this decision was finalized at the 22nd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs this year. The meeting took place at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat, with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presiding over the session.
The wheat procurement will be conducted under the provisions of Section 68(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2006, and Section 76(2) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2008. This strategic move aims to bolster the country's wheat supply through direct government collaboration.
