Govt Approves Procurement of 40,000 MTs of Urea Fertilizer from Saudi Arabia

Dhaka: The government has approved a proposal to procure 40,000 metric tons of bulk granular fertilizer from Saudi Arabia for the fiscal year 2026. The decision aims to address the increasing demand for essential agricultural inputs.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approval was granted during the 1st meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase for the current year. The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat, presided over by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

The fertilizer will be sourced from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia, as part of the 15th lot. The proposal, presented by the Ministry of Industries, involves a total expenditure of Taka 191.41 crore, with each ton priced at US$390.
