Dhaka: The government today approved a proposal in principle to procure one cargo of LNG from the spot market using the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) to address an urgent need for energy resources.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was made during the 8th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs this year. The meeting took place at the Cabinet Division conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. The proposal was put forward by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, highlighting the pressing requirement to secure LNG supplies promptly.
