Dhaka: The government has appointed 86 Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs) and 179 Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) for the Supreme Court, effectively cancelling all previous appointment orders. A gazette notification, signed by Solicitor Sana Md Mahroof Hossain, confirmed these new appointments, which are to take effect immediately.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification detailed that all prior appointments for the positions of Deputy Attorneys General and Assistant Attorneys General have been revoked. As a result, 86 lawyers from the Bangladesh Supreme Court have been appointed as Deputy Attorneys General, while 179 have been appointed as Assistant Attorneys General. These appointments are valid until further orders are issued.
With the inclusion of these 265 new law officers, alongside the Attorney General and three Additional Attorneys General, the total number of law officers has now reached 269. This is a reduction from the total number of 337 law officers recorded in March.
