Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee Member and Prime Minister's Adviser on Public Administration Md Ismail Zabiullah has announced that the government is focusing on startups, entrepreneurship, and innovation among young people. He highlighted the establishment of a National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform and a startup fund worth 500 crore taka to support innovative initiatives.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zabiullah made these remarks at the closing ceremony of the 'Third Inter Astronomical Appogee 2026,' a three-day science and astronomy event held at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. The event was organized by the Viqarunnisa Noon Astronomy Club (VNAC) at their campus in the Bailey Road area. He urged students to utilize government opportunities and engage in startup projects.
Addressing the students, Zabiullah encouraged them to aspire to win prizes at astronomy Olympiads, build satellite models, develop functional drones, invent new sensors, obtain patents, and establish startups. He emphasized that such innovations should contribute to the welfare of the people of Bangladesh.
Zabiullah further suggested that students focus on innovative technologies to improve safety, ease, and quality of life in areas like education, agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, environment, and communications. He mentioned that drone technology could open new possibilities for firefighting, flood forecasting, and security management in densely populated cities like Dhaka.
He expressed a vision where Viqarunnisa students would use drones in firefighting operations and work on low-Earth-orbit satellites, agricultural drones, or flood monitoring systems. He also encouraged the development of artificial intelligence-based systems for early flood and cyclone warnings and sensors to detect contaminated water.
Zabiullah called on students to create technologies and innovations to enhance the lives and agricultural activities of rural farmers. The festival saw participation from students of 15 leading colleges in Dhaka, including Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College, and was presided over by Majeda Begum, acting principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. Teachers and students from various institutions in the capital attended the event.
