Dhaka:Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman stated there is no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the country, warning that the government will take action against any hoarding intended to create public discontent.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Zahed made these remarks during a press briefing on government activities at the Secretariat. He cited data from the National Board of Revenue, noting that the country imported 157,760 metric tonnes of LPG in August and 118,000 metric tonnes so far in September.
The information presented at the meeting indicated that the LPG supply and stock situation remains satisfactory. LPG importers and operators have assured the Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources that the domestic market has no LPG shortage.
Zahed highlighted that despite adequate stocks, LPG prices have risen in some areas. The minister has warned all stakeholders to stay vigilant to prevent hoarding aimed at causing public unrest. He also noted a speculative trend in global commodity markets that could influence rising prices.
The government is actively monitoring the situation and implementing necessary measures to ensure stability.
