Dhaka:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government has announced changes to the holiday schedule for Durga Puja in 2026. The new schedule designates October 20-22 as public holidays, while October 17, a Saturday, will remain a working day.

This adjustment allows government employees to have a five-day break from October 20 to 24, incorporating the regular weekend days of October 23 and 24. Additionally, the government declared November 7 a public holiday to commemorate 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day'.

These decisions were finalized during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat's Cabinet Division conference room. The meeting approved the proposal to adjust the public and executive holidays for Durga Puja 2026, as stated in a Cabinet Division press release.

The circular from the Cabinet Division also categorized November 7 as a 'Category A' day to mark the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
