Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, emphasized that fulfilling the aspirations of the people following the July Uprising is a key priority for the interim government. In a statement on his verified Facebook page, he declared that banning the activities of the Awami League, which he referred to as a terrorist party, is a significant step towards achieving the government’s objectives.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Mahmud described the outlawing of the Awami League as another victory for the people involved in the July Uprising. He further cautioned individuals within the establishment who continue to sympathize with the Awami League, warning that they should remain vigilant or risk facing consequences.

In a separate announcement, the adviser disclosed the formation of a high-level investigation commission to probe the escape of former President Abdul Hamid. The commission, led by Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, is expected to submit its findings within 15 days. Asif Mahmud assured that the government is committed to bringing all individuals involved in the incident to justice.
