Dhaka:The government is committed to providing comprehensive support for the development of children born with cleft lip and palate through appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, as stated by Faqir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Science and Technology.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Faqir Mahbub made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an event celebrating World Smile Day-2026 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The event was organized by New Life Hospital Cleft Project and Child Health Awareness Foundation, with support from the international charity Smile Train America.
The minister emphasized the importance of ensuring access to treatment facilities at the grassroots level, highlighting the role of modern technology and innovation in making healthcare more accessible and affordable. He noted that through telemedicine, healthcare apps, and digital platforms, children in remote areas can now consult with specialist doctors.
Furthermore, he praised the efforts of Dr. Bijoy Das and the healthcare professionals involved in providing care to children with cleft lip and palate, describing their work as a noble initiative that brings happiness to families. Faqir Mahbub urged wealthier individuals and organizations to support such humanitarian efforts, expressing that investing in children's well-being is an investment in the country's future.
