Dhaka:Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced that the government is working on plans to establish a specialized university focused on the blue economy. He made this announcement during a scholarship distribution ceremony organized by the Marketing Alumni Association of Dhaka University and Meghna Group of Industries at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
According to United News of Bangladesh,Dr. Milon emphasized the government's commitment to developing Bangladesh's human resources by equipping them with future-oriented skills. He highlighted the government's prioritization of the education sector to improve the country's educational system.
He encouraged students to embrace diverse cultures and experiences, which he believes are crucial for analyzing problems from multiple perspectives. The minister also urged students to apply their knowledge and skills across various fields rather than limiting themselves to one area.
Addressing the gap between academia and industry, Dr. Milon noted that major companies in Bangladesh do not sufficiently prioritize strengthening their ties with academic institutions. He cited China as an example, where industries have established polytechnic institutes to provide practical experience for students. He stressed the need for similar linkages in Bangladesh.
Dr. Milon praised Meghna Group of Industries for its corporate social responsibility initiative in providing scholarships to university students and called on other corporate organizations to support educational initiatives. The scholarship event, named 'MGI-MAA Scholarship 2026,' aimed to provide scholarships to 90 students from the Marketing Department of Dhaka University.
