Dhaka: The government has announced its decision to reopen sick and closed industrial units across the country by engaging private entrepreneurs, aiming to boost employment opportunities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister has directed relevant ministries to take necessary steps towards this initiative, as stated by Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon. This effort is set to involve collaboration with private sector entrepreneurs to facilitate the creation of new jobs.
Reopening these industrial units, including jute and sugar mills, was one of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s key election promises. The directive ensures that former workers retain their jobs while new employment opportunities are generated.
Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Ashik Chowdhury confirmed that a committee, led by the Ministry of Industries, is already working on implementing the Prime Minister’s instructions to rejuvenate these industrial sectors.
