Dhaka:The government has announced the nomination of three new managing directors for the state-owned financial institutions Janata, Agrani, and BASIC banks. This decision was communicated by the Financial Institutions Division (FID) of the Ministry of Finance, which informed the boards of the respective banks about the nominations through separate letters.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the FID has also reversed its previous decision from October 19, which had canceled the tenure of Sonali Bank's Managing Director Shawkat Ali Khan, allowing him to continue in his role.

The newly nominated managing directors include Md. Mahbub Alam, who is currently the additional managing director and chief risk officer of Southeast Bank, and will now lead Janata Bank. Md. Nurul Huda, the deputy managing director of Janata Bank, has been nominated as the managing director of BASIC Bank. Additionally, Nur Mohammad, deputy managing director of Jamuna Bank, will become the managing director of Agrani Bank.

The FID has instructed the boards of these banks to appoint the nominees on a contractual basis for a period of three years each.
