Dhaka: The government has initiated the formation of vigilance teams across all districts to monitor the fuel supply, as announced in a press release from the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. This effort is directed toward preventing the illegal hoarding of fuel.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the ministry has also introduced incentives for informants who provide verified information on illegal fuel hoarding. Citizens are encouraged to report accurate complaints or suggestions to aid authorities in ensuring equitable distribution and preventing malpractice.
As of March 27, a total of 293 operations and mobile court actions have been conducted in 62 districts to supervise the fuel supply. These efforts have led to 78 cases being filed and fines amounting to Tk 315,550. Magistrates from the ministry are actively conducting mobile courts in various locations throughout Dhaka daily, with operations set to continue in Dhaka and its surrounding areas. The public is urged to report any irregularities or suspicious activities to the vigilance teams.
