Dhaka:The government has initiated a public awareness campaign to encourage motorcyclists and pillion riders to use standard helmets, aiming to discourage the use of substandard helmets and enhance road safety.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign, themed 'Standard Helmets, Safe Life,' was jointly launched by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the Tejgaon Industrial Area. The initiative emphasizes the crucial role of standard helmets in reducing the risk of fatalities in motorcycle accidents.
The press release noted that substandard, unsuitable, and inexpensive helmets may not offer adequate protection in road crashes. The campaign seeks to educate individuals on the importance of selecting and using helmets that meet safety standards.
The campaign involves direct engagement with motorcycle riders, pillion riders, and other relevant stakeholders to underscore the significance of standard helmet usage for safety on the roads.
