Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today announced that the government’s primary focus is on tackling illegal drug trafficking and online gambling. “Our foremost priority is to contain illegal drug trading and online gambling. Drives against these menaces are ongoing and will continue,” Ahmed stated during a press briefing after the Ministry of Home Affairs session at the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized the importance of addressing these issues to maintain social stability. He highlighted the government’s commitment to curbing illegal drug trade and online gambling as critical to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
When asked about the government’s approach, Ahmed revealed plans to introduce new legislation specifically targeting online gambling. “We are now working to shut down all online gambling portals,” he added, underscoring the government’s determination to eliminate these illegal activities.
