Bandarban: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma announced that the government is committed to advancing development in the hill districts, particularly focusing on the Bandarban district, which has been trailing in progress compared to its counterparts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the remarks were made during a program organized by the Bandarban Hill District Council, where Chakma served as the chief guest. He emphasized the government's dedication to the socio-economic upliftment of the CHT region, highlighting its intention to allocate necessary resources for the area's development. He called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in improving educational quality and achieving sustainable development.
Chakma stressed the importance of realistic development projects managed through the Bandarban District Council, ensuring their effective implementation for the betterment of marginalized communities. The event also saw the distribution of saplings, livestock, and sewing machines to farmers and women, alongside special grants for maternal and neonatal health.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain was present as the guest of honor, with Bandarban District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai chairing the event. Lusai noted the significant progress in the region, attributing it to the initiatives led by the CHT Affairs Ministry under Chakma's leadership.
The program was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Shamim Ara Rini, Police Superintendent Shahidullah Kawser, Chief Executive Officer of the Hill District Council M Nazrul Islam, government officials, and beneficiaries. The occasion also included distributing livestock, sewing machines, and financial grants to 482 underprivileged farmers and women in the Bandarban district.
