Rangpur: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has announced that necessary steps are being implemented to enhance the quality of healthcare services at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH). 'The present government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is prioritizing the health sector to provide improved healthcare services nationwide,' he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dulu made these remarks to journalists after chairing a management committee meeting at RpMCH. During his visit, he toured various wards and interacted with patients receiving treatment at the hospital. As the Chairman of the RpMCH management committee, he highlighted that the government has allocated substantial funds for recruiting sufficient doctors and health workers to address the manpower crisis in the health sector and improve service quality in hospitals across the country.
The minister, who also serves as BNP Organising Secretary for the Rangpur division, revealed plans to expand the ICU unit at RpMCH by adding 10 more beds to the existing 10. Additionally, arrangements will be made to provide seating for one attendant per patient in the cabin areas.
Dulu addressed the ongoing anesthesia crisis, which hampers continuous surgical activities at the hospital. He assured that initiatives are underway to establish round-the-clock operation facilities to resolve this issue. In efforts to eliminate the syndicate controlling body transport from RpMCH, a kilometre-based fare list and an invoice-based billing system will be introduced to prevent harassment during body transport.
To ensure the hospital's overall security, a police control room will be established soon. Moreover, Dulu instructed for adequate lighting to be installed throughout the hospital premises within the next seven days to prevent criminal activities at night. He also urged the Rangpur City Corporation to demolish the current hospital walls, construct a new entrance, remove nearby illegal structures, and address water logging issues.
Addressing the problem of broker infiltration within the hospital, the minister mentioned plans to outsource additional manpower to prevent such occurrences. He emphasized that all employees will be required to wear identity cards and uniforms while on duty.
The minister sought cooperation from all stakeholders to enhance the quality of healthcare services at RpMCH for all citizens. The event was attended by Rangpur-3 MP Mahbubur Rahman Belal, reserved women's seat MP Advocate Rezeka Sultana Fancy, Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Director of RpMCH Brigadier General Md Ashikur Rahman, Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Md Shamsuzzaman Samu, District Council Administrator Md Saiful Islam, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin, and other concerned officials.
