Gopalpur: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today announced that the government has commenced the implementation of its election pledges by launching several initiatives, even before the ink on voters' nails has dried.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister revealed that a Family Card has been introduced as part of the government's commitment to fulfilling its election promises. He emphasized that the government is actively taking steps to support farmers, highlighting the waiver of agricultural loans up to TK 10,000, including interest, for farmers.
Tuku made these remarks while acting as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Rajkhal canal excavation project in the Golabari area of Gopalpur Upazila. He also announced that the Prime Minister would formally inaugurate the Agriculture Card programme at Tangail Stadium on April 14.
Highlighting the government's initiative to restore the nation's water bodies, Tuku stated that a large-scale programme has been undertaken to excavate over 20,000 kilometers of rivers and canals across the country. As part of this initiative, excavation work has begun in various districts, starting today in Tangail district with the Rajkhal canal project.
He further mentioned that canals in Tangail District, which have been filled or are on the verge of drying up, will be excavated in phases. The event was attended by notable figures including MP for Tangail-2 Md Abdus Salam Pintu, Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Executive Engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board Main Uddin, along with other officials and local dignitaries.
