Government Gears Up for February Election, Says Adviser Asif Mahmud

Rangpur: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan announced today that the government is actively preparing for the Jatiya Sangsad election scheduled for February next year. He emphasized the importance of consensus among political parties in the upcoming Consensus Commission meeting, particularly regarding the July Charter, which could facilitate a more decisive movement towards the elections.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Mahmud, who also serves as Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, shared his insights while speaking to journalists after paying tribute to martyr Abu Sayeed at the ‘Shaheed Abu Sayeed Memorial’ located in Begum Rokeya University. The tribute was part of a broader visit to Rangpur.



In the latter part of the day, Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan took part in the prize distribution ceremony of the ‘July 36 Football Tournament’ final held at the Rangpur District Stadium. He attended the event as the chief guest. In an exhilarating final match, Gangachara Upazila XI clinched the championship by defeating Rangpur Sadar Upazila XI with a scoreline of 2-1. The event was noted for its competitive spirit and the enthusiastic participation of local teams.
