Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain announced today that a committee is being established, consisting of representatives from both factions of the Tabligh Jamaat, to address the ongoing internal dispute.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee will be chaired by an Additional Secretary and will include equal representation from factions led by Maulana Muhammad Zubair and Maulana Saad Kandhlawi. Dr Khalid expressed optimism that the committee could foster mutual understanding and prevent future conflicts. "We expect this committee will be able to pave the way for mutual understanding and prevent further conflict. That is our sincere goal," Khalid stated.
Earlier today, a joint meeting took place between leaders of both groups and senior government officials at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The meeting was aimed at mediating the long-standing rift within the Tabligh Jamaat. Key attendees included Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Ministry of Home Affairs Khoda Bakhsh Chowdhury.
Khalid further elaborated on the meeting, stating, "Senior representatives from both sides attended the meeting. We invited them for tea and tried to create a welcoming and amicable environment. The talks were constructive, and we hope the newly formed committee will deliver a significant report to resolve the dispute."
