Government Distributes Over 1,461 Tonnes of Rice in Khulna Before Eid-ul-Azha

Khulna: The government has successfully distributed 1,461.38 tonnes of rice to 46,138 Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) cardholders across nine upazilas and two pourashavas in the Khulna district in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha. Each cardholder family received 10 kg of VGF rice as part of this initiative.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khulna District Relief and Disaster Management officials reported the distribution specifics, detailing that 105.37 tonnes of rice were allocated to 10,537 cardholders in Dakop upazila, while 130.78 tonnes went to 13,078 cardholders in Batiaghata upazila. In Dighalia upazila, 131.67 tonnes were distributed among 13,167 cardholders, and Rupsha upazila saw 140.36 tonnes distributed to 14,036 cardholders.



Further distribution included 118.75 tonnes to 11,875 cardholders in Fultala upazila, 179.51 tonnes to 17,951 cardholders in Koyra upazila, and 215.89 tonnes to 21,589 cardholders in Paikgachha upazila. Terokhada upazila received 100.67 tonnes for 10,067 cardholders, while Dumuria upazila was allocated 261.36 tonnes for 26,136 cardholders.



Additionally, Chalna pourashava received 30.81 tonnes for 3,081 cardholders, and Paikgachha pourashava was provided with 46.21 tonnes for 4,621 cardholders. Director (VGF) of the District Relief and Disaster Management Department, Md Abdul Karim, noted in a conversation with BSS that the distribution of VGF rice is an annual effort conducted before Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. He confirmed that most of the rice has been distributed, with plans to complete the remaining distribution within the next few days.
