Dhaka: The government has decided to procure 200 double-cabin pickups to enhance the operational capabilities of the Bangladesh Police. This decision was approved during the 14th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs, which took place at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proposal for procuring the pickups came from the Public Security Division and was approved under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM). This move aims to support the logistical needs of the police force, ensuring they have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
In addition to the approval for the police vehicles, the meeting also sanctioned a proposal from the Ministry of Textiles and Jute to sell 1.36 acres of land belonging to Tangail Cotton Mills Ltd, situated approximately 1.50 km from the mill’s boundary walls. This decision is part of broader efforts to optimize the use of government assets.
The Economic Affairs Committee also gave the green light to two additional proposals, one from the Election Commission Secretariat and another from the Power Division, underscoring the meeting’s comprehensive agenda aimed at addressing various governmental needs.
