Dhaka: The government has decided to procure two crore litres of refined palm olein through the local open tender method, a move approved by the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement during a meeting at the Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhur.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the procurement proposal was presented by the Ministry of Commerce and outlines that the edible oil will be supplied in two-litre PET bottles. The total estimated cost for this procurement stands at Tk 368.90 crore.
Under the procurement plan, Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Ltd will provide 10 million litres of refined palm olein, while Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited will supply the other 10 million litres. Palm olein, a liquid fraction derived from palm oil, is formulated to remain in a liquid state at room temperature.
