Khulna:The government is distributing 578.4 tonnes of relief rice among 964 Durga Puja mandaps in Khulna's nine upazilas and metropolitan areas in preparation for the Hindu community's largest religious festival.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration, with assistance from upazila administrations and local units of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP), is managing the rice distribution. The process is expected to conclude in the coming days.
Khulna city BPUP General Secretary Prashanta Kumar Kundu expressed appreciation for the government's support, stating that the allocation would aid the Sanatan community in celebrating the festival. He also acknowledged the efforts of authorities and law enforcement in providing security measures for a peaceful celebration.
Additionally, the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has distributed Tk 7.70 lakh to 77 puja mandaps within the city. KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju reported that the funds were handed over to the respective puja celebration committees on Saturday afternoon.
