Dhaka: The government today issued a clarification regarding the cancellation of the contractual appointment of Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, urging the public and media to avoid spreading misinformation or speculative statements.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing released a statement addressing the rumors and false information circulating about Dr Rashid’s contract cancellation. The statement explained that Dr Rashid had submitted an application to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, requesting to be relieved of his duties due to personal reasons, a decision he made a few days prior to the election.

Despite his initial decision, Dr Rashid agreed to continue his role at the request of the Chief Adviser. This decision was made in consideration of the upcoming election and the need to maintain discipline and continuity within the field-level administration.
