Gourab ’71′ organized a protest rally against the ‘arrogant speech’ of Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, who was sentenced to death for war crimes in 1971.
The protest rally was held at Shahbagh’s ‘Projonmo Chottor’ on Saturday around 4 pm.
BNP’s central committee member Hammam said when the AL government falls from power, they won’t be able to return home until they seek forgiveness from the families of ‘martyrs’ while giving a speech at the BNP’s divisional mass rally in Chattogram on October 12.
He also gave slogans of Jamaat-e-Islam during his speech.
Among the speakers at protest rally on Saturday AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu- general secretary of Awami Swecchasebak League, Awami Central Executive Committee Member Advocate Sanjida Khanam, Awami Jubo Mahila League Vice President Advocate Kuheli Quddus Mukti, Dhaka Journalist Union Vice President Manik Lal Ghosh, Freedom fighter Ruhul Amin Majumdar, Freedom Fighter Bicchu Jalal, Poet Aslam Sunny were present in the program.
AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu, general secretary of Awami Swachhasebak League, said, Since Ziaur Rahman came to power, he brought the anti-independent people into politics and posted them in important positions. Later, Khaleda Zia also followed his path.
“In 1981, Sheikh Hasina tried to bring the war criminals to justice, but BNP tried to obstruct the process when they came to power again. However Sheikh Hasina managed to hang the war criminals,” he added
He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has to take immediate action against these ‘culprits’.
Freedom fighter Ruhul Amin Majumdar demanded that “for the next 100 years, children of war criminals should not be allowed to become members of any political party and at the same time they cannot be appointed to any government job.”
President of ‘Gourab 71’ organization, Habibur Rahman Romel, said, “Salauddin Quader’s son’s Arabic name is Hummam Quader which means bathroom manager. What else can we expect from him.”
Bani Yasmin Hasi, editor-in-chief of B-berta24.net, Afsana Ferdous Keka, Rabiul Islam Rupam-organizing secretary of Gaurab Gaurab 71 organization, leaders of various organizations, freedom fighters, political and cultural personalities, teachers, intellectuals and other people from various professions participated in the protest rally.
