Comilla:The Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) has suspended Md A Jasim Uddin's membership. He contested against NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah in the Comilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency during the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the suspension came with a show-cause notice demanding Jasim Uddin explain why he should not face permanent organisational action for allegedly breaching party discipline and damaging the party's reputation. The GOP's central office, led by President Nurul Haque Nur and Acting General Secretary Hasan Al Mamun, issued the notice on Tuesday.

The notice, signed by GOP Office Secretary Syed Mahbubur Rahman, did not detail specific accusations but cited a "serious breach of organisational discipline." Jasim Uddin has been given five working days to provide a written response or face possible permanent action if his response is inadequate or delayed.

Efforts to reach Jasim Uddin for comment have so far been unsuccessful as he remains unreachable amid the media attention. In the election, he represented the Gono Odhikar Parishad with the Truck symbol and garnered 49,885 votes, backed by the BNP, which withdrew its candidate in his favor.
