Dhaka: Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) organized a torch procession in the capital this evening, protesting the nationwide anarchy allegedly perpetrated by the ousted leaders and activists of the Awami League.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Rampura Thana unit of the Gono Odhikar Parishad organized the protest, which saw participation from local leaders and activists in the Rampura area. The procession was followed by a brief rally, addressed by Abu Hanif, a member of the party's higher council and media coordinator. Hanif accused the banned Awami League of carrying out secret attacks across the country, resulting in the deaths of innocent people.

He asserted that citizens now have sufficient strength to counter such acts of violence. Hanif further claimed that, despite being ousted from power through the July Uprising, associates of the Awami League continue to attempt to disrupt the electoral process. He warned that these acts of arson and violence are further diminishing the Awami League's chances of making a political comeback.

The event was attended by GOP central leader Shafiqul Islam Ratan, Dhaka North City General Secretary Muhammad Abdur Rahim, Vice Presidents Rakibul Hasan and Apurba Alamgir, Joint General Secretary Imran Hasan, and Vice President of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Sabbir, among others.
