Sherpur: A robbery took place early in the morning at Shatrupa Jewellers in the district town, where thieves made off with gold and silver jewellery worth approximately Taka 30 lakh. The theft occurred early morning on Monday at the shop located in the Kharampur area of the district town.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Atiqur Rahman Taposh, the proprietor of Shatrupa Jewellers, reported that he had closed the shop on Sunday night and returned home. Upon arriving at the shop on Monday morning around 11 am, he found the jewellery trays in disarray. Further inspection revealed that the lock of the shop’s iron chest had been broken, and the thieves had accessed the shop by breaking a section of the tin shed roof.

“I was in disbelief when I saw the condition of the shop. Everything was in disarray, and the chest was broken into,” Taposh stated. He added that it seemed like the thieves planned the heist carefully and targeted the shop after hours.

A complaint has been filed with the Sherpur Sadar Police Station, and local authorities are now investigating the matter. Following the report, Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, Zubaidul Alam, along with other police officers, visited the crime scene to assess the situation. “We have received the complaint and have conducted a preliminary inspection of the scene. We will begin our investigation to identify the perpetrators,” stated Officer Alam.
