Global Standard Psychiatric Institute to Transform Pabna Mental Hospital

Pabna: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today announced that the Pabna Mental Hospital will be converted into a modern psychiatric institute of international standards, aiming to advance mental health development in the country. Speaking at an award ceremony organized by the Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrics (BAP) at a local hotel, Dr Bidhan emphasized the significance of upgrading the existing infrastructure to enhance mental health services.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Bidhan highlighted the need for a developed communication system and the establishment of a new international standard mental hospital utilizing the current infrastructure of the Pabna Mental Hospital. He noted that the National Institute of Mental Health in Dhaka has long faced challenges in expanding psychiatric education, research, and services due to limited accommodation.

Dr Bidhan stressed the importance of acknowledging and rewarding committed researchers in the psychiatry sector to encourage future contributions. He expressed his gratitude to the psychiatrists and urged them to collaborate with professionalism and dedication.

The event was also addressed by Prof Dr Hedayetul Islam, Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Prof Dr Abdul Wahab Mina, and Dr Rawshan Ara Begum.
