Haji Danesh: A global climate strike programme was held at Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University today, focusing on climate protection, the expansion of renewable energy, and increasing investment in agriculture. Organized by the Young Climate Action Network (YOUCAN), a voluntary organization in the country, the event drew significant participation from the university community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a large number of students participated in the programme, chanting slogans such as “We want justice-climate justice” and “We will not defeat-will not pollute environment.” The event was moderated by Sumaiya Binte Mahbub Atoshi, the Vice-President of the university unit’s YOUCAN network. Key speakers included university representative Mohammad Raijul Islam, along with Safayet Hossain and Rebeka Bente Sharif.
The speakers emphasized the universal nature of their demands, arguing that the stakes are high if they are not met. They called for united efforts to protect the environment, advocating for collaborative action to create a sustainable future. They stressed the importance of working together to safeguard the environment and build a better world.
