Dhaka: Female students outperformed their male counterparts in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations across the country, recording higher pass rates and the highest grade (GPA 5). Of the 911,791 female candidates who sat the examinations, 607,939 passed, making a pass rate of 66.68 percent. Among the 917,694 male candidates, 530,938 passed, putting their pass rate at 57.86 percent. The pass rate for girls was therefore 8.82 percentage points higher than that for boys.
According to United News of Bangladesh, girls also outnumbered boys among GPA-5 achievers. A total of 63,896 female students secured GPA-5, compared with 52,780 male students-a difference of 11,116. Overall, 1,138,877 students passed the SSC and equivalent examinations this year. Among them, 607,939 are female students and 530,938 are male students.
