Dhaka: A gazette was published today over the new Police Dress Rules, 2025. 'In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 of the Police Act, 1861 (Act. No. V of 1861), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), with the approval of the Government, is pleased to make the rules,' said the gazette.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new rules outline detailed specifications for uniforms, rank badges, and monograms for all ranks, from the Inspector General to constables. Specific dress codes have also been defined for different units, including RAB, APBn, and women police.

The police logo or monogram has been described to include the national flower Shapla (water lily) resting on water, surrounded by a wreath of wheat and paddy, jointed by three jute leaves at the top, with the word "Police" in Bengali written below the lower joint of the wreath.

The regulations aim to standardize police appearance across duties and ceremonies. The provisions of these rules are designed to take effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent contained in any other existing rules, regulations, or orders, the gazette added.
