Dhaka: The government has officially announced the merger of the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division into a single entity under the Home Ministry. This development was confirmed through a gazette issued by the Cabinet Division, invoking the Rules of Business, 1996 (rule 3, sub-rule i).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the gazette, which was signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, states that the merger will be effective immediately. Consequently, all operations previously managed by the two separate divisions will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry.
The Home Ministry was initially divided into two separate divisions on January 19, 2017.
