Hazaribagh: Four members of a family, including a woman and a child, sustained burns in a fire that erupted, apparently due to a gas leak, at their rented residence in the Hazaribagh area early Monday. The victims, identified as Sheikh Roman, 35, his wife Pinky Akter, 32, their three-year-old son Mayan, and Roman's brother-in-law Apu, 23, were living on the ground floor of a building located at East Rayar Bazar under Hazaribagh.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the fire started following an explosion in the house, as stated by Md Mamun, who was responsible for bringing the victims to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. Local residents promptly rescued the victims and transported them to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Assistant Professor Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, reported that Roman suffered burns covering 25% of his body, Pinky Akter 75%, Mayan 24%, and Apu 7%. Two of the victims have been admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU), and all four remain in critical condition.
