Chattogram: At least nine people including three children were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a residential building in the Halishahar area of Chattogram city early Monday. Eight of the injured were identified as Shipon, 30, Sumon, 40, Shawon, 17, Anas, 7, Iman, 9, Shakhawat, 46, Ayesha, 4, and Pakhi, 35.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Jasim Uddin reported that the explosion occurred around 5:45 am on the third floor of the six-storey building located in front of the Abahani Club ground. The explosion subsequently triggered a fire, resulting in injuries to the nine residents.
Upon receiving information, two firefighting units were dispatched to the scene. However, local residents managed to extinguish the flames prior to their arrival. The injured victims were promptly transported to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for medical treatment.
