The Gai Tihar, worship of cows, is being celebrated across the country today, the third day of Yamapanchak. Worship of cows is a vedic tradition in Nepal. Cow is regarded as mother, for the cow milk is as nutritious as mother’s milk. The cow is also called ‘Gaumata’. On this day, the cow is garlanded and fed delicious food. The cow milk, urine and dung are all sacred in Hindu community. !3General!4
