Fugitive Accused in Rangpur Murder Case Arrested in Keraniganj

Keraniganj: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -13 arrested the fugitive accused in a sensational Rangpur murder case over a land dispute from the Konakhola area under Keraniganj model police station of Dhaka on Saturday afternoon. The arrestee is Lebu Mia, 40, son of Abdul Jabbar from the village of Kisamat Menanagar under the Taraganj police station of Rangpur, according to a press release issued here this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, citing the complaint filed by the plaintiff, the release stated that the victim Khalequzzaman, 40, and the arrested accused are residents of the same village. They had been embroiled in a land dispute for a long time. On October 31, 2025, at 7 am, during a conversation about removing soil from the grave of the victim's grandmother, the accused allegedly attacked the victim on the head with a stick and an iron rod in a pre-planned manner intending to kill him.

Subsequently, the victim's relatives and local people transported him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital on the same day for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries at 7:05 am the following day. The victim's brother filed a murder case in this incident with Taraganj police station in Rangpur district on November 1, 2025.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, RAB-13, along with other law enforcement agencies, initiated intelligence activities to apprehend the accused. On a tip-off, a joint operational team of the RAB-13's Rangpur Sadar Company and the RAB-10's Keraniganj Camp conducted a raid and arrested the absconding accused Lebu Mia from the Konakhola area under Keraniganj model police station of Dhaka at 1 pm on Saturday. Subsequently, the elite force handed over the arrested accused to Taraganj police station in Rangpur for further legal action.
