Rangamati: A day-long free medical camp was organized on the premises of Sapchhari union parishad office today under the initiative of Rangamati Sadar Zone of Bangladesh Army, providing healthcare services to more than 200 residents from remote hill communities. Rangamati Sadar Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Ekramul Rahat attended the camp as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was graced by several notable figures including Sapchhari union parishad chairman Prabin Chakma, UP member Riton Barua, Mabikchhari Bazar Committee President Md Saiful Islam Sagir, Sapchhari Jubo Dal president Abdul Bacha, and Social Committee member Md Jahangir.
In his inaugural speech, Zone Commander Lt. Col Ekramul Rahat emphasized the Bangladesh Army's commitment not only in maintaining law and order but also in promoting peace, harmony, and better living standards among the local population. He highlighted the Army's focus on enhancing health security for the residents of the hill region.
Lt. Col Rahat stated, "Providing healthcare services at the doorsteps of marginalized and underprivileged people who cannot easily access advanced medical treatment due to distance is one of our key objectives." He further assured that such public welfare and humanitarian activities by the Army would continue in the future.
The camp successfully offered free healthcare services, medical tests, and medicines to over 200 distressed and underprivileged individuals from both the hill and Bengali communities, thereby addressing a crucial gap in access to medical care for these remote populations.
