Faridpur: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated there is no apprehension about holding the upcoming 13th national election in a free, fair, peaceful, and credible manner, as the highest number of law enforcement personnel in the country’s history has been deployed. ‘No apprehension is there, as the highest numbers of law enforcers have been deployed,’ he mentioned while addressing a question after attending a views exchange meeting with local administration officials, police, and other law enforcement agencies of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser highlighted that for the first time in a national election, Bangladesh Army personnel have been authorized to enter polling stations to aid in maintaining law and order. Referring to electoral violence, Chowdhury noted that incidents of violence so far are comparatively fewer than in any previous election at the same stage. He expressed hope that the violence will not occur in the upcoming days and that the situation will remain peaceful until the end.
In response to another query, Chowdhury revealed that the meeting discussed preparations to manage any potential violence related to the election in the region. He expressed satisfaction over the election preparations in the Faridpur region, emphasizing that almost all polling stations have been equipped with CCTV coverage. Additionally, drone surveillance will be employed to monitor the situation.
Chowdhury concluded by stating that with the combined efforts of law enforcement agencies, local administration, and all concerned parties, the election in the Faridpur belt will be conducted in a free, fair, credible, peaceful, and festive manner. He called for wholehearted cooperation from everyone to ensure a smooth electoral process.
