Dhaka: The Bangladesh Educational and Counselling Psychology Society (BECPS) has formally recognized four psychologists as full professional psychologists following their completion of MS and MPhil degrees in educational and counselling psychology. This recognition was announced during the society's annual general meeting, which took place at Dhaka University this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mostak Ahmed Imran has been acknowledged as an educational psychologist, while Sadeka Banu, Raufun Nahar, and Mariam Sultana have been named as counselling psychologists. The meeting was presided over by BECPS President Prof Shaheen Islam, who noted that these new recognitions increase the total number of educational and counselling psychologists to 12 each.
The meeting witnessed the attendance of over 150 psychologists, marking a significant gathering of professionals in the field. During the session, a 15-member executive committee for the term 2025-27 was also announced, with Prof. Dr Mehzabeen Haque taking the position of president and Dr Md Azharul Islam serving as general secretary.
All four newly recognized psychologists are alumni of Dhaka University, highlighting the institution's role in advancing the field of educational and counselling psychology in the region.
